--- ZEALOUS
Kae is one to put her shoulder to the wheel. Well... most of the time. When it comes to something she enjoys, Kae can be extremely enthusiastic. She gets bubbly, smiley, and if it's something she has to do with her hands, she gets that concenterted look. You probably know it. It's the one where someone's eyebrows draw together, and they stick their tongue out a little bit for no apparent reason. It's one reason why you should never tell Kae about a surprise. It's obvious that she's hiding something, and she ends up spilling the beans eventually.
--- PERVERTED
Sometimes things just pop into her head, and she can't stop them from tumbling out of her mouth. Although Kae hasn't actually had sex since.. well.. you'll get to that... she finds herself being a hands-on flirt, and often saying things she doesn't really intend. The best is the "How far can I go before I make you akward?" game. That game gets awkward, though. Once her hand's close to or on someone's crotch and they just say keep going, that's when Kae calls defeat, shakes her hand out, and moves away. Sometimes shameless flirting seems a bit too much, especially with it involves genitalia. Still... it's fun to watch someone get awkward when she does win.
--- PROTECTIVE
When Kae actually lets someone get under her skin, it's hard for her to let them go. She's not quite a leech. It's not like she cares where they are 24/7; she just likes to have people around her, and have people that mutually care. At home, it was almost a "fend for yourself" situation. In college, with no family around, friends are really all Kae has. She depends on them, and likes to think that they depend on her too. When she notices that one of her friends are trying to detach themselves, she gets hurt, and tries to keep them as close as possible. She'll explain why the other person or people is or are a bad choice. She'll explain how much she likes her friend. The thing is... sometimes life's a bitch. People have to leave, eventually. It just sucks when you still get to see that person, knowing that they're not a major part of your life anymore.

Topeka. It's a large city in the middle of bumfuck nowhere. No, literally. Up north for miles it's nothing but indian reservations, and as for south... Well, you can confuse the farm land with reservation land. It's all the same. Crops, cows, and broken down farm houses. Once you're in the city though, it's a whole different story.
Don't travel main roads from 7-9, 10-1, or 5-7. Basically, never travel main roads. There's always a lot of traffic, and road rage seems to be a common trait among drivers (and passengers). There are four main rich parts to the town, on the outskirts. In the middle is where you find all the drunks and junkies. That's the majority of the town, as well. Maybe that explains the forementioned road rage. Apparently crashing causes people to be irritable.
So why the hell did Max and Jane Hansen move to Topeka with their family, anyway? Oh, yeah. They couldn't afford the farm anymore. After being evicted, the Hansen's had to watch their belongings get auctioned off, and then five of them had to cram into a one bedroom apartment. However, although the situation seemed bad, Mr. and Mrs. Hansen couldn't be happier.
Mr. Hansen had inherited the farm. His mother had died when he was young, so when his father had a heart attack Max Hansen was left the farm. He'd had a successful job, but with a pregnant wife who wanted an escape from the city, the farm seemed like a good compromise.
Kae was born a few months later. She grew up on that farm, living a simple life. By the time she was six, Amity Kae had a four-year-old sister named Amber and a brother, Matthew, who was 18 months. Kae always loved having siblings. She loved playing with Amber outside, holding Matt while he fell asleep, and taking baths together.
One day the happiness seemed to disappear, though. Mom and Dad were always on the phone, and sometimes Mom would cry at night. The next thing she knew, Kae had to pack all of her clothes and toys in a box and put them in a big van. Kae didn't quite understand why they had to move, and she hated the apartment the moment she walked in the door.
It was small- too small. It was cramped, too. There was no fresh air, barely any sunshine, and a sorry excuse for a yard. She had to deal with it, though. Kae, and Amber slept on a pull-out couch, while Mommy and Daddy slept with Matthew between them. They did that for a few more years. Kae hated it. She'd go to school, make friends, and was always jealous when her friends had their own big girl beds.
That all ended, though. Once Matthew was old enough for day care, Mommy got a job. Daddy got promoted, as well. Money was flowing back into the Hansen household. By the time Amity Kae was in middle school, the Hansens had a house. It wasn't a big house, but it had two rooms upstairs, two in a basement, and two bathrooms. It felt like a mansion after being stuck in the apartment for so long, and it gave Kae a new sense of hope.
She finally wasn't ashamed of her home. She finally had the gull to ask people over. Kae gained friends; she gained personality. Who would have thought that a house could boost someone's confidence? With the idea of having friends over more often, Kae morphed into a social butterfly. It came with its price, though.
Kae found the wrong crowd. They weren't the worst of kids it's not like they murdered people, or robbed pawn shops. However, five finger discounts, fights, underage drinking and tobacco use, as well as premarital sex didn't quite make them heaven's first choice. Kae slowly distanced herself from her family. She was rarely home. If she was home, it was either because she was royally pissed at society for some reason or because she needed something really quick. Once she had clothes, ate, or whatever else, she was gone again.
That changed once Kae hit the ripe old age of 18. It was the spring of her senior year. She was going to graduate high school in a couple of months. Her parents had been hasseling her to go to college. They'd set up a trust fund, and promised she could go anywhere she wanted (that wasn't Ivy League, of course). Their hasseling was really pissing her off, so she'd decided to avoid them all weekend. A friend from school had decided to let her stay at their house.
There was a party that night. People that had graduated before her were there. She knew some of the faces, but a lot of them were strange. After a few drinks, a couple hits, and a lot of laughs, everybody became her friend. Little did she know it would soon become the worst night of her life.
Who knew that simply sitting on a couch could do so much harm. Often Kae goes back and wonders what would have happened if she'd sat anywhere else. She wouldn't have sat next to that stupid boy. He wouldn't have made that comment about her eyes. She wouldn't have had that urge to kiss him. She wouldn't have kept letting him pour her vodka and Dew mixes. Kae would have been able to fight him off before he could even push her up the stairs, carry her to a bed, and not listen while she kept telling him no.
It was the worst night of her life.
"Fall asleep together, wake up together." That was the last thing she remembers him saying before she passed out. In the morning, she was alone. It seemed she was alone forever, once word got out. What is it with people? They never see victims anymore; they see whores.
Kae spent the last few months of her high school career isolated. She avoided people, and once again saw her own house as a haven. She began to write about her experiences in a journal, and found it was a good outlet. It inspired her to start writing stories. She would often put herself into a character's role, and get attached to each story... even though not a single one got finished. Just as her life wasn't over, neither were her stories.
With so much time spent at home, it reminded Kae exactly how important her family was to her. She was once again sitting on the couch watching movies with Matt and Amber, and screaming 'sorry' across the dinner table whenever she sent a piece flying across the board. It seemed she had been reborn again, and she was determined to not fuck up.
A couple bad habits followed her, though. She still smoked- cigarettes, of course. She hated the way it smelled, and how too many menthols would make her cough, but sometimes it just seemed relaxing.... the smoking, not the coughing or the smell. She would also steal drinks from the fridge in the garage, and get a little buzz before falling asleep.
Once graduation came, Kae got her acceptance letters. One came from a school that she didn't recognize, and she'd asked her parents about it. "It's a good school, honey. It's a place where you can let your creative juices flow, and not be ashamed of who you are." That's when Kae found out that her mother had been sneaking onto her laptop, reading her stories, and Kae was furious. Her mother was right, though. Emerson College was just right fit. Kae found it to spite her mother. It may have been the college mom picked, but it was also the farthest from Kansas.
Freshman year was a struggle for Kae. After slacking off in so many high school classes, she found herself failing her courses. The idea of a tutor put a bitter taste in her mouth, but by second semester it seemed a must. Acquaintances eventually became friends, and Kae found herself developing crushes. There were a few parties where Kae ended up getting hot and heavy with a boy, but she made sure she'd never gotten too drunk to lose herself entirely.
Once the year was over, Kae went back to Kansas as a whole new person. She'd durastically cut her hair and dyed it to an almost-white blond. She was more bubbly, less paranoid, and pretty amusing to her family. The summer went by faster than she'd hoped, and it was back to school again. It wasn't a totally bad thing, however.
Kae reconnected with friends, got to enjoy her classes more, and was soon a tutor herself. She tries to give good first impressions, and keep them. However... everyone has their bad days, right?
Why Emerson?
At first, Kae didn't even want to go to Emerson. However, the fact that her mother had tricked her into signing the application papers intrigued her as to why she should go. The place was in an artistic hub. It was a bit expensive, but not too bad; it had a great writing program, too. The website was very helpful. The words used to express the place seemed to match the school's reputation as an arts college. Every description made her want to experience it. That is why Kae is here at Emerson College of Arts.
Ah, Single Awareness Day. It's the day when people that aren't single have to go out and spend money on others. Thank godness Emi didn't really have anyone to spend her money on, or she wouldn't have woken up and decided to go out and buy ice cream for breakfast. She sat on her bed, staring at the tv, shoving spoonfuls of mint chocolate ice cream into her mouth. First there was Lion King, and then there was Bedazzled, and then she decided to watch Tristan and Isolde. Little did she know that all of those movie choices were made subconsciously to torture herself.
Simba had Nala. The guy with the devil's pager had that girl he liked. Tristan had Isolde. And who did Emi have? Nobody. Having woken up around 11, it was almost 6 by the time her movies were over. She sat on her bed, staring at the empty ice cream carton, pouting. Single Awareness Day sucked. She had been sulking without even realizing it until that exact moment. Giving a sigh, she rolled out of bed and managed to throw the empty ice cream box and plastic spoon away. It had done nothing for her. Her emotions had been numb while she was eating it- possibly due to numerous brain freezes. It wasn't until she'd finished the desert, and gotten into the movies, that her horomones decided to kick in.
Valentine's Day is all about love. It's all about being with someone. Seeing as Lily was out, Emi couldn't decide what to do. She didn't want to be alone, anymore. That's what it hit her. Standing above her trashcan, she debated whether or not to dig for the invitation she'd gotten to a Psi Ep party. They'd been sent out to everybody, so it's not like she was special or anything. Most of those girls hated her to some extent, and vice versa. Still... it was a party. There were bound to be people there. Even if it was going to be a hard crowd to please, Emilia decided to go.
Reaching into the trash can, Emilia tried to avoid anything that would be gross, and found the invite. After a quick scan, she found the time, and then simply tossed the invitation back. Now the mission at hand was what to wear. She didn't have much in her closet that was formal, but after a second of thought, she did have something red. And sexy. Sexy would be good. Maybe other people felt lonely on Single Awareness Day and were going to the party.
The wheels were turning in Emi's head as she took a shower, dried and curled her hair, put a face on, and changed. Black pants, Red strapless top, black vest, and black flats. Perfect. It almost seemed symbolic. She dreaded this day, hence the black. With the red accent, however, that showed her hope in the day. Maybe, just maybe, if she went to this party things would get a little better.
After putting on her coat and stuffing some cash into her front left pocket, Emi was headed to the Psi house. She played with the celtic bracelt on her wrist as she walked with her hands folded, trying to keep them warm. It was still February, and she was from Florida. Of course she was cold! The wind stung, but at least it would put some color in her cheeks. As for her lips, a little clear gloss kept them protected enough that chapped was not a problem. All random makeout engines are go!
Emilia smiled at this thought as she stepped onto the sidewalk that led straight to the Psi Ep house's door. Sighing, she entered, and immediately looked around. Good company? Bad company? Either way, she started to take off her coat.
