--- DETERMINED
When Mikayla wants something, she does what she has to in order to get it. Now, she isn't manipulative and snarky, she doesn't like getting things like that. She is a firm believer in karma and doesn't want something negative hanging in her conscience. Ever since she was a little girl, she's wanted so many different things. Big dreams for such a small little girl. Her parents thought it was unhealthy for her to be such an acting fanatic, but she wanted it. She had been stead-fast on anything that could help her. Throughout her years, she auditioned constantly, not letting rejection hinder her spirit. Even now, she doesn't let it keep her from her dreams. She knows what she wants in life and she isn't going to lose that because of fear and uncertainty. She wants to strive for what she wants and will do everything in her power, short of shady business, to capture her dreams. She may seem a bit impatient at times, but her heart is always in the right place. Her determination is what got her this far.
--- OPPORTUNISTIC
Now, this isn't to be taken in a sense that she would do anything if the opportunity presented itself, even if it hurt someone. Mikayla prefers to keep a clean conscience, but when she sees an opportunity and knows it will benefit her, she takes it. Especially when it comes to her dreams. She doesn't want to be left in the dust and end up working at a diner like some people. She wants to go out there and make the best of her resources. She won't pass up and opportunity, if she seems something she wants, she goes after it. However, Mikayla is a graceful loser. She bitches when she is alone, but when she's among others, she lets things go easily. Being a sore loser is no way to be when you are around casting directors.
--- HOPELESS ROMANTIC
Mikayla loves love. She wants to some day have the love that her parents have. She wants to find the one man that can make her life complete, but she doesn't go around dating every guy she meets. However, when she does start dating, she puts her whole soul into it. She wants to fall in love, be happy, but she knows that most men aren't interested in that kind of commitment. Men her age are about the chase, about getting what they wanted from girls and moving on. She wants to find the one guy who will fall in love with her for a change and she can finally have that wholesome feeling in her heart. Completion. Now, many would say that you don't need a man to be complete, but for Mikayla, she wants that family. A family would be her completion, but she needs someone to help her do that. A trusting man, and she tends to get hurt easily for she goes into a relationship completely when most of the men she's gone out with, only wanted her for her body. She has been less than successful lately.
LIKES: puppies, musicals, chocolate, the color yellow, boys, kissing in the rain, singing, dancing, writing, drawing, romantic films, acting, giving random people hugs, sending people cards for no reason, coffee, cupcakes, classical music, classic rock, romance, spontaneous gift giving, cutesy couple names, and her home.
DISLIKES: angry people, the color brown, cheaters, liars, people who treat others like crap, snobby people, meatloaf, two-faced people, black licorice, beer, undercooked food, prima-donnas, favoritism amongst professors, sluts, cheesy pick up lines, players, and being treated like meat.
Born to Erin and Jacob Kennedy, she was one of 5 children. Mikayla's parents were childhood sweethearts. The pair fell in love when they were kids, or at least, that's what they told her. Growing up in Ireland, she was exposed to many different things. Her father ran a pub in Dublin while her mother was a school teacher. They weren't the richest of folk but they were happy. Mikayla however, had rather big city dreams, things that didn't really coincide with her parents' way of life. Still, she did what she could in the small village they lived in. Her parents were very supportive when it came to their children. Daniel went off to be an investment broker, Collin decided to be a writer, and then little Mikayla had acting dreams. Of course they tried to tell her that not every one made it, but if she wanted to try it, they would help her any way they could. Erin and Jacob wanted to raise a well mannered, happy family so they did their best to teach their children how to be kind to others and to always keep in mind that God was watching them. They were rather religious types, but they were also open minded. They had to be when they found out their youngest, Matthew was gay. Now at first it was a shock, but now it's like nothing's changed. The Kennedys take pride in their family no matter what.
As a child, Mikayla wanted to be an actress. When there were open castings for community theatre, she would jump at the chance for roles. She was often cast as extras, or child roles when she was young, but as she continued with the community, they began to notice her talent and she went on to take larger roles. Her parents often wondered if it was because she had been with them for so long, or if their daughter really made that much of an impression. Parental opinions were often biased. You wanted your child to succeed and you thought they were good at everything. Or at least that was how Erin and Jacob felt.
Mikayla graduated from high school with honors and her parents couldn't be more pleased with her. Then, she told them that she wanted to pursue her dreams and they were a bit worried. They wanted their daughter to be happy, but they also wanted her to be realistic. They didn't squander her dreams as she told them she wanted to attend an Arts school. Many were up on the block but it took her a while to finally decide on one. She had always dreamed of going to America, and she figured schools there would be her best bet. The idea of living home scared her, but she wanted to see the world.
Why Emerson?
Eventually, Mikayla came across Emerson. She read the curriculum and fell in love with the campus. After she and her father took a visit to the states and toured the campus, Mikayla realized it was the place she wanted to be. She applied and was accepted to the college, and has been there ever since. She adores the school as well as America. She does hope to return home someday to see her family, but until then, it's just her and the school. On her way to her dreams.
Tell me what an eighteen year old girl does when she has so much free time, and can no longer bare to linger in her home? She disappears and runs off to a local haunt in Hogsmeade, is what she does. Daphne Greengrass found herself in the small village, hoping to escape from the grasp of her parents as they fawned and were glad that she had survived that night. Just like her brother didn't. On some level, Daphne realized that she had been fighting for the wrong side the entire time. Why had she gone along with it? Draco had said it was for a good cause, that it was the right thing to do. A bunch of bollocks and hogwash in the end. The man that they had been fighting for had died, killed by a supposed ally. It had Daphne questioning everything she had believed in that year. It forced the Slytherin to realize that she had been far more in the wrong than she has ever been in her entire life. Evil, perhaps. The thought alone drove her mad as she moved along the pathway, heading toward the Three Broomsticks. Far ways from home, but she didn't care. It was solace compared to the sound of her mother's shrill voice carrying on all day.
Daphne entered the inn, her blue eyes scanning over the interior and wondered why it was so quiet. Then again, it was June, not many of the students would be lingering here. They were off with their families, recovering from the evil that blanketed the grounds a little over a month ago. It was hard to believe that so much time had already past. Daphne swore she could still hear the screaming in her mind as she went to bed at night. She hadn't done much damage in retrospect, but for her, it had been enough. She had always been a rather mean person at school, always letting everyone know how highly she thought of herself. But now, after everything that's happened, she felt like she was smaller than everyone else now. Getting in trouble was one thing, but fighting for a cause that she didn't even truly believe in, a cause that killed so many of the people she knew. A cause that had been shrouded in lies to begin with, it made her sick. She was sick with herself for even participating.
She pulled her long sleeved shirt over her arms as she moved farther into the inn, her eyes going to Rosmerta and gave her a gentle smile. The woman smiled back before moving off to tend to her duties. Daphne hadn't approached her for anything yet so she just gave herself another look around. Then her eyes fell on a man sitting alone at a table. The brightness of his hair sort of tipped her off on who he was. A Weasley. They were a rather well known lot, and she recognized him as one of the twins. The only one left, in actuality. She had heard of Fred Weasley's death, in fact she had witnessed it. She saw a lot of death that night, and it made it more real for her as she stared at George Weasley. He was alone for the first time. His other half wasn't here to complete the set that they had once been. It broke her heart. She carried her slender frame toward him, her eyes guarded as she stopped before him. He probably wanted to be alone, but she offered anyway.
"Erm, do you mind if I joined you? I don't really like being alone." She said finally, the hesitance in her voice was foreign to her. Before, she would have sat right down, not caring how he felt. But times were different now. She was different now. She had no right or reason to be pious toward him, and frankly, they were both the same. Two people, in the same place. She knew how he felt, or at least a fraction of his pain. She had lost her brother in the battle, a man she had looked up to in ways despite the constant feuding and teasing. He had been important to her, just like Fred to George, but she understood that her relationship with her brother had been nothing in comparison. She stood before him, her eyes darting away from him, almost like she was ashamed to speak to him, let alone share a table together.
