MILES LEE TOWNSEND
Name: Miles Lee Townsend Nicknames: Mr. M Age: Thirty Nine Date of Birth: October 15 Orientation: Hereosexual Nationality: American Home Town: New York, New York Subject Taught: Film -Directing, Editing, and Film Production Play by: Robert Downey Jr.
--- ARROGANT The Merriam-Webster dictionary describes this as 1. exaggerating or disposed to exaggerate one's own worth or importance often by an overbearing manner 2. proceeding from or characterized by arrogance. Miles says it is knowing you are great at something and having the balls to speak about that greatness. Having been a successful film director almost his entire life, aside from infancy and his school years, Miles is no stranger to greatness. He has won many awards from films which now sit proudly in a glass display case. Now as a teacher it is probably this arrogance that keeps him from really ever finding a true "soul mate" or whatever you want to call it. --- LONLEY Though Miles would never admit it he finds himself slightly wishing for a companion or at least someone he could talk to for extended periods of time without growing mind numbly bored. He is not the type to go out "clubbing" or "speed dating" but would rather find his perfect women at some sort of movie premier, to which he regularly gets invited to, or perhaps just someone in his own field a teacher or at least in the non acting side of the film business. --- INTELLIGENT Perhaps Miles' greatest strength comes in his mind and it is that strength which he captures on film. While he doesn't do big movie blockbusters anymore he still dabbles in the smaller independent films. He had an eye for the camera that is different and refreshing in a day and age where people are more concern about CGI effects rather than an actual story.

Miles was an only child born into a middle class family in New York City, Manhattan to be exact. His mother was an independent bookstore owner and his father a chef in a restaurant so growing up Miles tried to split his time between both places, though he was never really good with cooking things. Growing up he always had a passion for film weather it was watching it or taking his parents heavy camcorder and trying to make his own, with the kids in the neighborhood serving as his actors. Though it wasn’t until he was in high school, on a scholarship to a high school in the Upper East Side did he really discover all the things he could do behind a lens.
Majoring in Film his parents were very supportive and with another scholarship he was able to make his way through the New York Film Academy and earn a degree. It was there that he met Dr. Erickson who sort of took him under his wing guiding young Miles as well as pushing him for greatness.
His landed his first real paying gig right out of college as an assistant director for a great Hollywood blockbuster that would soon be known as one of the greatest flops of all time, having spent more money to make than it ever grossed. It was the first and last time Miles was ever assistant to anything because while he was not pegged for the failure the humiliation was felt none the less.
His life in a sense can be traced through the countless movies now pinned on his IMDB resume, the man women he has dated or been rumored to date, the many award shows or primer parties he had attended, and the prestigious awards he has won. It is through all this that some might say he lost his soul, or lost his way. Forgetting the simple joys of why he went into film and what made him great.
His arrogance has somehow clouded his way but now that he has left everything behind, for a new life at Emerson, he hopes to find his old roots and perhaps a new greater life. One filled not with countless women, one night stands, and sometimes unpaid speeding tickets but students with bright futures wanting his guidance.
Why Emerson? Well It was because of a promise he made. Miles started out as a prominent film director, winning various awards and making many movies with the hottest actors of the time. Though one day he got the call about an old film teacher, of his, he had in college. He was the man that really taught him everything he knew and a prominent mentor in Miles' life. Dr. Erickson was sick with cancer and apparently had been for a while. While the two were close over the past few years, while Miles was busy making a name for himself in the Hollywood circle, they had grown apart. Of course when Miles got the call that his old teacher was sick, he dropped everything and flew out to be with him. It was then that he made a promise or more like a vow to teach like Dr. Erickson did. Feeling that the young students of the world needed someone to guide them like he had been. It was really only luck that Emerson had an opening and was willing to hire him even though at the time he didn't have any experience teaching.
Central Park was a vast place, although in Wes’ opinion it was in a rather weird location being right smack dab in the middle of Manhattan. Still it was the one thing that separated the Upper East Side posh lifestyle from the Lower slightly slumish world. Not that Wes cared as he had always grown up somewhere in the middle. All his life he had just been Wes, the slight social outcast with a mumbling problem. The social outcast was partially due to the fact that he spent more time in a sound booth rather than at parties but it was also because for the majority of his life he had lived in his brother’s shadow. Now that the big shadow was gone, due to the fact that Tyler had moved out of their loft and was now planning on getting married sometime in the future. It was also due to the fact that stupidly Wes had now taken some random-oid job with a rock band. Being some sort of roadie junkie… but without any good perks as he was pretty sure he wouldn’t get to run sound for them for at least a few years. No one trusted the new guys and the Creole chick that he had once worked with on New Years seemed pretty pissed off that someone knew was even in her presence on such an important day.
It would be a slow transition though from theater work where there was an actual stage to outdoor events and probably some really crappy pubs, he didn’t exactly know how famous these guys were but it would be no Madison Square Garden venue, or Carnegie Hall, where he had been used to working. Right now though he was just no one…a lanky seven year old carrying around his Transformers lunchbox only to have his arch nemesis Bobby come up behind him and smash his nice neat cut up apple into the ground. Though he wasn’t seven anymore and though there were still a lot of Bobbies in the world none of them came up and directly wanted to ruin his day because in his world he was respected. Young yes… to be put in charge of the entire sound production for some very famous shows as well as bands at MSG (Madison Square Garden). A Child prodigy of the sound board by no means but just a kid who grew up backstage, some of his parents work had to rub off right?
Still though with his new job Wes could already tell that he was slightly unwanted in the King of the Sea group. They all seemed to be like some really big close knit family, band and crew alike all blending together in a weird way. And Wes… well Wes would be like Cousin Oliver from The Brady Bunch. Still it wasn’t like he was going to be around all the time what with still trying to maintain his two other jobs at Carnegie and MSG. So if worse came to worse he would give up the Carnegie gig.
Walking on the edge of Bethesda Fountain found in Central Park Wes was not surprised to find the fountain empty but what he was surprised to find was that there were hardly any people sitting around the edge, a typical occurrence at this fountain any time of the year. Though there were a few scattered here and there which was the reason why he walked just inside the fountain as to avoid the problem of stepping around people. What he was doing wasn’t really a sport, considered by most people, and it wasn’t something that you could easily do while walking around in a circle. Which is why Wes was only juggling with one ball and a non breaking one at that. He had to keep his mind occupied somehow what with already taking his dogs for a walk and having a good long break after the holidays form his jobs. A break that even if he wanted to go to work and hang out he would only be kicked out just because people said he spent to much time at MSG or Carnegie. They all knew him and his brother which was a good thing but sometimes a pain in the ass over break time.
So here he was a few days into the new year and already bored as hell. New Years Resolutions just weren’t his thing but if he were to make them they probably would have been something like get a life or new hobbies or maybe the most basic one… socialize in places where you wouldn’t normally be seen, put yourself out there and meet new people. Still change was scary and he was comfortable only being known in the semi small, but in his mind very prestigious, circle of the Arts World..
