KAROLINE GIANNA GOLIGHTLY
Name: Karoline Gianna Golightly Nicknames: Kara - nobody but her parents calls her Karoline Age: Twenty Date of Birth: November 28th, 1989 Grade: College Junior Program: Academic Orientation: Heterosexual Nationality: Caucasian Home Town: New York, New York Play by: Blake Lively
--- HOTHEADED If you know Kara at all, then you know that her temper can flare up in less time than it takes to snap your fingers. Some are convinced that she's bipolar, but really Kara is just a supremely opinionated young woman, and if something pisses her off, she really gets going. She gets especially angry if anyone trash talks her friends or family or is just ridiculously ignorant about any matter.
--- INDEPENDENT Miss Golightly can be independent almost to the point of stupidity. She will almost never ask for help, because she hates seeming like she's vulnerable or can't handle things. Kara likes to do things by herself, even if that's not exactly the ways way out.
--- HONEST Kara always speaks her mind, whether you like to hear it or not. She's not an outright bitch about things, but if you need to hear something, she'll say it, even if it's difficult to hear. She hates when people are deceptive or won't speak their minds, so she often tries to delve into peoples' brains to figure out what they're thinking. In her opinion, everyone should say exactly what they think, all the time.
--- OPTIMISTIC Although she gets down on herself at times, Kara is primarily an optimist at heart. She is a believer in dreams and true love and happy endings. You know how, in rough times, there's that one friend who will pat you on the back and tell you how things will get better? That's Kara. She's a firm believer that people can recover from anything.
--- SOFT-HEARTED At times Kara can come off as an unfeeling, cold-hearted bitch because of her blunt honesty, but really she's not. Kara has a soft spot for the underdog and the down trodden. Because of this there are several people in her life who adore her like puppy dogs because she has helped them with one thing or another, usually having to do with relationships.
--- CONFIDENT Not many girls who are 5 foot 9 inches can rock six inch heels like Kara can. Her appearances suggest that she is extremely comfortable with herself, and her demeanor absolutely exudes confidence. She laughs often and never seems to be awkward or embarrassed. Of course, nobody is really confident all the time...
--- INSECURE Kara has suffered from a mild case of anorexia since she was thirteen, and she also has a tendency to drink by herself… drink a lot. Despite what people see on the outside, Kara has thousands of insecurities, just like anybody else. Sometimes she looks in the mirror and sees a fart lard that needs to lose twenty pounds. Sometimes she wishes she was cute and short and petite instead of being tall "like a model." Sometimes she thinks that she only has friends because she's rich and has a tendency to get a little bit wild at parties.

William Golightly and Laura Turner met in London, England. William was born in London, while Emmaline was born and raised Southern California, on a visit to Europe over the summer. William Golightly was already a successful lawyer at the age of twenty-six, partly thinks to his wildly wealthy socialite mother's influences. Laura Turner, on the other hand, was a middle-class surfer girl from San Diego who spent most of her time on the waves or dancing with her friends. By the time she was twenty-five however, she had saved up enough money for her trip to Europe she'd dreamed of for years. Her second day in London, she literally ran into the young and handsome William Golightly, sending the contents of his briefcase flying into the street. Although she was afraid that the wealthy-looking business man would sue her or something, it turned out quite the opposite. Mr. Golightly was entranced by the carefree California girl, and she was caught by his charms. They were married in a few months, and Laura was pregnant a few months after that. William and Laura Golightly decided to move to America and raise their child in the vibrant city of New York.
At first things went well. Even after their daughter, Karoline Gianna, was born, they were only brought closer together. Everything was made easier by William's wealth, of course. Nannies could be hired for romantic nights out, to keep their romantic relationship up to par. Their daughter was beautiful, charming, and brilliant to boot. It seemed like the rich family was going to live happily ever after. Everything changed around the time of Kara's fifth birthday. Laura found out that William had been cheating on her profusely, with numerous women, since shortly after they were married. She decided at once to get a divorce. The process ended up being painful and nasty, especially the battle for custody. Laura loved her daughter more than anything, and she fought for her for months, but eventually, it was decided that William Golightly would have full custody of his daughter. This was almost wholly due to the fact that Laura had no job and hardly any money after her divorce. After everything was decided, Laura disappeared, with virtually nothing. William remained in New York with his daughter.
From elementary school through junior high, Kara was home-schooled by the best private tutors money could buy, hired by her father. She grew up on the Upper East Side, a neighborhood full of old money, and was surrounded by other wealthy families with young children. She grew up surrounded by many of the same sorts of people. Although Kara loved New York, she eventually felt that she needed a change, being an ambitious girl and all. She wanted to be around some new kinds of people. By the time ninth grade rolled around, Kara convinced her father to let him attend a private boarding school in Philadelphia - Emerson. The school was supposed to be the best of the best in Pennsylvania. It was there that Kara discovered a couple things... One, you can never escape the rich people or the snobbishness. And two, it's a lot easier to get into trouble when you're not living with your parents.
Kara became a bit of a rebel in high school, partying all the time and rarely attending class. She was quite promiscuous, sleeping around with so many guys she's almost lost count. She was almost thrown out her junior year, in fact, for breaking into a closed part of the school after hours and throwing a party. After that she shaped a bit, even managing to graduate with honors. But Kara's carefree nature continued into college. Yes, she parties a lot, but Kara isn't into any hard drugs or recreational drinking with her friends. Mostly she drinks by herself, which is rather depressing.
But since she's turned twenty-one especially, Kara finds it intensely satisfying to buy a bottle of Jack and drink it by herself in her dark room. Kara is usually an upbeat, bubbly person, but the higher she flies, the harder she crashes, and the alcohol seems to soften her crashes in some illogical way. At the moment, Kara is studying pre-law, taking after her father, but she really isn't sure she wants to be a lawyer. In fact, Kara has no idea what she wants to do in life, and that's one of the many things that bothers her. Why does everyone else have an amazing passionate thing to do that they love? Kara doesn't have that thing, or she hasn't found it yet, and that depresses her more than anything.
Leighton McCallister went nowhere without being sure she looked absolutely perfect. Most people settled for considerably less than perfection, but Leighton set the bar high, and not many could keep up with her. Staring into the enormous mirror that took up a good portion of one of the walls of her apartment, Leighton turned her head back and forth, her eyes gazing into their own reflection. Stunning in a little black halter dress glittering with sequins, the only thing left to do was to slip on her mile-high matching heels. In Leighton's opinion, heels were one of the greatest inventions of man. Or woman, whatever. Not only did they enhance the figure of even the most awkward woman, but they were versatile. Whether with a glamorous evening gown or with jeans, a girl could never go wrong with heels. Often when she went out for the night Leighton would pin up her hair, but tonight she had decided to leave it down, tumbling loose and curly around her shoulders. Although many women would kill to look how she did at this moment, there was no smile on Leighton's lips. With one last fleeting look in the mirror, she was out the door.
The club of Leighton's choice wasn't far, but with the night life of Los Angeles, it took half an hour to reach. Leighton didn't bother to hide her resentment of this delay from her driver, although it was obviously not his fault. What did she care? She changed drivers at least every other month, whenever she got bored with one or they got lazy, which happened more often. If the man wasn't going to risk his driver's license to get her where she needed to go, he wasn't worth having. On the way to the club Leighton received several phone calls and text messages, inviting her to a variety of places, but she didn't reply to any of them. Some nights, like tonight, Leighton simply needed to be stimulated, and being in the company of her own dull friends wasn't going to do that. Finally, Leighton found herself getting out of the car onto the sidewalk that was milling with people all clamoring to get into the club. With a confidence born of wealth and intelligence, Leighton walked smoothly past the line straight to the front, where she simply flashed the bouncer a smile and walked inside. Leighton was often mistaken for a movie star.
All the sensations washed over her in one swift moment, so that Leighton had to stop for a moment by the door to get her bearings. The multi-colored lights and the music pulsed together, and the heat of the many dancing bodies battled with the air conditioner. Clusters of people stood around the edges of the dance floor or sat at the bar, sipping their drinks. Leighton decided that she needed to relax a bit before she started dancing, so she headed for the bar. After ordering her usual drink, which the bartender knew well, she sat down and crossed her legs, noting that these particular heels made them look quite long. She noticed a few men leering at her a few seats down, but they weren't even worth looking at, so she ignored them. Sipping her drink, she let her eyes rove over her surroundings.
Leighton loved to watch people. It was somewhat of an indulgence, when she could just sit down somewhere and let her mind wander as she studied the way people talked, the way they held themselves. If you were clever, you could tell a lot about a person just by watching them for awhile. That was why she had learned to carefully conceal her emotions in public by keeping her face smooth and blank. Anybody could be watching. Noting vaguely that she would soon need another drink, Leighton glanced to her right, down the line of bar stools, and her eyes landed on a good-looking man. He had a slightly bored look about him, and she considered talking to him. But as always, Leighton waited, deciding there was a good chance he might come talk to her if he noticed her looking. But then again, if he didn't, she wasn't going to be a little girl. She would introduce herself first if need be.
