Fall was coming. The leaves were changing and the last of the warm days were fast becoming over. One had to make the most of the sun while they could. Before winter hit and Philadelphia became a blanket of Christmassy white. Which in itself was lovely, but still, as I said, you had to make the most of the warmth while it was still around. Which was what Freddie had decided to do this warm afternoon. He’d spent the morning in a dance class, so he felt his body (and mind) deserved some relaxing that afternoon. At first he’d decided just to laze about on the grass at school, sunning himself like a peacock. Then he’d remembered that his apartment building had a pool which he was yet to try. Besides, laying on a pool lounge was far more dignified then the grass. His hair wouldn’t get so messed up either. Which was always a plus.
After class, he had made his way back to Maddison apartments and up to his modern apartment. Only long enough to swap the tights for a pair of purple Board shorts, and his nap-sack for a towel, book and Ipod. He finished off his look with dark glasses perched in his hair. Ready to pull down and shield his eyes from the harsh afternoon sun. The young man didn’t bother with a singlet. Letting his toned chest remain exposed in all it’s self-considered glory. Truth be told, his chest wasn’t as impressive as it could have been- it wasn’t flabby, but it definitely could have been more buff. Freddie seemed to think it was perfect however. Then, was there anything he didn’t think was perfect when he was concerned? If there was, he hadn’t found it yet. Other people’s opinions of him were a completely different story of course.
Slipping his feat into flip-flops, the young man left his apartment, locking the door and storing the key safely inside pocket. If he did end up going for a swim, he wasn’t sure what he’d do with the key, but that was a problem to consider if and when he came to it. He was still dubious as to if he would even get in the water. Sometimes he simply had issues with getting his hair wet. Strolling down the corridor, Freddie stuffed his ear-phones into his ears as he waited for the lift to take him down to the ground level. He wasn’t exactly the most patient a young men, and it showed the way he sighed, flicking through playlists as though it was a personal attack that the lift wasn’t waiting for his every whim. Oh if only the universe really did Revolve around Freddie Fairfax. If only.
It wasn’t long though before the lift arrived, and Freddie found himself inside, then the doors opening on the ground floor. Giving a woman a charming smile as he passed, Freddie made his way towards the glass doors that led towards the pool. He could already see the water from inside. It did look rather inviting. He wondered though, how often they cleaned it? Pushing that potential disgusting thought from his mind, Fred’s let himself into the pool area. As though he owned the place, which he assumed he did, he made his way to what appeared to be the best pool chair, moved the stuff that was on it over to the next, and settled himself down to laze about in the sun.

Kara had been horrible at swim team in high school. In fact, thinking back upon all those hours of tormenting practice and the torturous swim meets, she felt a little sick to her stomach. Miss Golightly was good at a lot of things. Competitive swimming was just not one of them. But that didn't mean she didn't like to swim, period. In fact, Kara was quite the little water creature when it came to rivers, lakes, the oceans, and even pools, although those were her least favorite medium. They brought up bad memories. However, swimming was a relaxing, independent form of exercise that worked out the entire body without feeling too strenuous. That was Kara's kind of workout. So instead of walking into her apartment and collapsing on her sofa for a couple hours to zone out watching television before going out somewhere for the night, she set her resolve and stripped off her clothes, changing into her simple black bikini before she could change her mind.
After throwing on a gray tank top and a pair of denim shorts so she wasn't walking around her apartment building virtually naked, Kara headed out to the hallway and took the elevator down to the ground floor. She had with her only a towel and the key to her and Cec's apartment. It was an adventure, being Cecelia's roommate. Sometimes Kara felt like she was walking on glass as she maneuvered around Cecelia's strange moods. But they were best friends. They had been for years, and nothing would change that. Just as she stepped into the pool area, it occurred to Kara that she should've sent Cec a text to see if she wanted to join her. Oh, well. It was probably just as well that she swim by alone so she could have some time to herself. Alone time kept Kara sane. There were a couple other people at the pool, but they all seemed to be minding their own business. At least there were no obnoxious children. It wasn't until she had tossed her towel and room key onto a chair that she caught sight of him.
Ugh. Ugh ugh UGH. The absolute last person she wanted to see was seated on a pool chair, head phones in his ears, looking as though he owned the place. There weren't many people Kara disliked, but Freddie Fairfax was one of them, without a doubt. He was one of the most utterly arrogant and annoying people she had ever met. "Please, don't notice me," she said under her breath before taking a few quick steps and diving into the deep end of the pool. Beneath the surface of the water, it was cool and silent. Being underwater always had a calming effect on Kara, and it was no different now. She then broke the surface and swam a few laps, enjoying the feeling of the cool water on her skin.

If you didn’t want someone to notice you, it perhaps wasn’t the best idea to dive into a pool right in front of them. Especially when that someone had issues with getting his lustrous hair wet. He hadn’t seen the splash, or even heard it thanks to his ear-phones, but the boy had felt it. Which was the problem. It hadn’t been a lot of water, but it had been enough for him to feel dampen his hair and scalp. Now, in his mind, Freddie had imagined that the one responsible for his patch of wet hair was probably a large man. You know, over-weight, since the splash they had made seemed to be so huge. Yes, that what he envisioned in his mind as he let out a small growl, pulling his ear-phones out, and placing his Ipod aside. It was a fat man that he was considering yelling at when he looked up. Only to find, that it hadn’t been a fat man at all.
In fact, it was the exact opposite of an unattractive pig had wet him. If he had of known exactly who had wet him, he may not have been so annoyed. Okay, who was I kidding- He would still be annoyed, just soothed instantly when he saw her perfect form hit the water in that spectacular way he could only imagine it had. Karoline Golightly. She really was perfection. Freddie had met her his very first day at Emerson, and from that very first moment he had known he wanted her. Sure, the girl didn’t return his affections yet. In fact, she seemed to hate him. That didn’t matter though. The boy had no doubts in his mind that he’d have her. In fact, there were a lot of girls he’d met so far that he seemed rather convinced that he could have. He was cocky, and determined, which was often a bad mix. It made him strive for things that everyone else could see was a lost cause.
Licking his lips, Freddie sat back in his chair, watching the girl swim a few laps. What was it about the female form that was just so alluring when covered in droplets of water. The boy licked his lips again. Mind imagining what it would be like to lick- well, something else anyway. Now, he wanted desperately to have some sort of interaction with the girl, but that posed a very touch choice. Sit, watch and wait in the hopes she got out of the pool- or bite the bullet and jump in, risking getting his hair wet. He supposed if anyone could pull off the wet hair look, he could. Smirking to himself, he stood up and slipped off his shoes. He then placed his key carefully with his Ipod. Only residents were allowed in the pool, and no one was going to steal it right? He hoped not.
Moving to the edge of the pool, the boy dived in. Once he resurfaced, his eyes made sure to find Kara. Keeping her in his view, he swam somewhat under-water towards her. Coming up to stand in front of her. Looking at the girl through his lashes. “Well hey there..”
