--- STUBBORN Liza's family is Irish, the nation for hardheadedness. She gets it from her father, of course she doesn't know about her mother. When Liza sets her mind to something she goes for it and there is no stopping her until she finally realizes for herself that it's hopeless. Liza had decided to become a singer when she was five and no matter what anyone has told her she had always gone for that dream. Partly for her mother's memory, but also because she knows it's a good place for her stubbornness to be acknowledged as drive and that's a good thing in her mind. Everyone told her she would never become anything, which only adds to the fire of her being stubborn and showing them wrong.
--- LOUD When Liza was little she used to be very soft spoken, always “hiding behind her mother's skirts” as it were. Afraid of the wild unknown. But once her mother died Liza started singing for her father and music became her solace. Liza was done being a little mouse, that girl couldn't help her mother, but now if something went wrong or was wrong in her mind Liza was going to speak up and tell them at that moment. It's said that Liza has a black woman's voice, she loves it and uses it to her advantage, always catching eyes at auditions because of her voice, power and volume. Liza learned early on that if you want something you have to speak up and take it rather than quietly sing and hope they hear you because that is just wrong and your dreams are going to fly out the window faster than a hawk dives for it's prey.
--- PLAYFULWhile most girls will stand around in groups of other girls Liza was always with the boys, playing with them and as she got older, flirting with them. None of them hid the fact that they liked body, voice and playfulness. Liza had quite a few boyfriends when she was in Arizona but she found that Emerson held more choices for her so she left. While Liza plays and flirts with boys it's obvious to those who are looking that she's afraid of anything more than just playing. Liza has never found much good in going in too deep with the opposite sex, or there for having more than a few girlfriends who just barely knew the surface of Liza. Sometimes her playing around is taken to the point where people don't think she's serious about anything, but when it comes to her dad, school and singing there is no more serious person on the face of the earth. She's going to make her dad proud with her grades and famous for her mother.

Liza was born in Mesa, Arizona on July seventh in nineteen ninety. Both of her parents were so proud and knew they were going to spoil their little blond haired angel. While Liza was growing up her mother introduced her to the arts and Liza took a shine to dancing and singing, just like her mother. Her father was an architect but as busy as he was he always made time for his family. His wife whom he loved immensely, and his little angel, as he called Liza. When Liza was six years old her mom was driving her home from a dance recital that her dad had seen over satellite and she was crying for some reason. That much Liza remembered, then suddenly there was a scream and flashing lights. Liza was still in her little swan princess costume when there were strange men taking her out of the car and taking her away from her mom. She struggled and kicked with all her might, screaming for her mom at the top of her lungs and reaching for her. Why wouldn't she get up and rescue her? Why did she just let Liza get taken away. Finally Liza realized that it was pertinent that she listen to the strange men who seemed nice to her, even though the tears were still streaming down her face. She was sniffling and the nice man was wiping her tears, he even gave her a stuffed penguin to hold. Liza nodded her head then whispered out, “Liza Blake. Daddy's not home. He's on business.”
Finally he asked her if she had any questions and she looked up at him, her chin and lip trembling, “Why won't mommy move? Why didn't mommy answer? Mommy always answers.”
She saw the pain in his face, although then she didn't know that that was what it was. “Sweetheart. Your mommy isn't going to be waking up.”
“What? No! Mommy has to wake up! We go girls day tomorrow! Planed for weeks!” by now she was sobbing and screaming, “Mommy has to wake up! She has to!”
Hours later Liza saw her dad running towards her and she ran at him, still holding the stuffed penguin and cried into his jacket. She felt wet stuff on her shoulder and looked up to see her daddy crying. Never had she seen him cry. Daddy's didn't cry. Little girls cried when they got hurt, mommy's cried when they watched movies but daddy's didn't cry, not when they got hurt, not ever. “Daddy?”
He looked down at her with a sad, watery smile, “Yes my little angel?”
“Where's mommy?”
He licked his lips, “Mommy is up in heaven with the other angels. She's singing and dancing and watching over us. Mommy will always be with you,” he pointed to her heart, “in here. No matter what anyone else says she is always with you. Understand my little angel?”
Liza nodded her head, “Yes daddy.”
“Good.”
From that day on it was just the two of them. Liza had stopped dancing and singing in competitions. Now she just sang at home, but dancing was too hard for her, too much of a memory of that one night that stood out so clearly in her memories. Once a month her and her dad would go visit her mom's grave and leave flowers. Liza would tell her all about her day in her journal, as if one day she would read it and know of all the good and bad things that were going on in Liza's life. After her mom died she pulled away from people entirely. She stopped trusting that they were going to stick around. It was some deep hatred that she wasn't going to recognize that her mother left her. Although she knew not by choice, but she knew no one was going to stay forever, so why try to make them? Finally she got up the courage to move across country to an arts college. Her and her dad Skyped every day, neither was willing to give up that connection.
Liza looked up at the big collection of buildings from the front seat of her dad's truck and sighed softly, “Wow.”
He looked over at her and gently moved a piece of hair out of her face and smiled, “You'll do great angel. You always do.”
Liza smiled at him, “Thanks daddy.”
Finally they found the dorm building and parked near the entrance. Liza got out, she was wearing a pair of skinny jeans, tan ugg boots, a white tank top and a dark blue kind of sweater over it. She looked around with her pale blue eyes. Liza pulled her hair back in a messy bun before going and helping her dad unload the back of the truck. Luckily it only took one trip with the two of them and once they set everything down they went back out to grab a bite to eat before her dad had to start heading back. While they were sitting at dinner her slid a sleek, black cellphone across the table to her, “Here, call me anytime. You know I'll answer.”
Liza smiled softly, “Thank you daddy.”
She put it in her pocket then looked up as she heard something jingling. “You didn't.”
He shrugged, a crooked grin on his face, “I figured, since you're going to be a junior in college and you're not going to be living at home you might as well have your own ride.”
She grinned, there was a key, key pad and a small key chain with a penguin on it. Ever since that night Liza had fallen in love with penguins, “Aw, thank you daddy,” she kind of stood and hugged him, “I love you daddy.”
“I love you too angel.”
After a while they got back to the dorm and she saw her new car parked in the spot where they had parked before, it was a beautiful black, Ford Escape. Liza had never been one for tiny sports cars, nor one for big trucks. The Escape was just the kind of car she liked. So she threw her arms around her dad and hugged him tight, trying to hold back the tears. Finally they pulled apart and she smiled a watery smile at him, “Bye daddy.”
“Aw, don't start crying angel, cause if you start crying then I will and that's not a good thing to have on my rep,” he finished with a grin.
Liza started laughing, “Okay, I'll call you later tonight, okay daddy? And stop somewhere tonight, don't just keep driving.”
He smiled, “You got it angel. Have fun.”
He kissed the top of her head before walking to his car and getting in. She watched him go before turning and heading towards her new life.
