--- ROMANTIC While Andrew is often called a serial dater, he prides himself on being one of the last romantics. To him, love is a precious gift that should be cherished and held close. He has never cheated on any girl, nor does he plan to. Once, when is first love was mad at him for something stupid (in his opinion), he went to her window and quoted 'Romeo and Juliet', completely dressed as a British lord-with the tights, of course- and a dozen roses. The lass forgave him, of course, and told him that he was so romantic. Just the way he surprises his girlfriend of the moment, with the random delivery of dozen roses and holding the door open, Andrew loves seeing women smile and giggle at how romantic he could just be.
A problem with be romantic is that it allows his heart to be in a bad position. He doesn't like showing that he is weak, but in order to show that he is romantic at heart, he has to think highly of the woman. Most of the woman that Andrew has tried to go into a serious relationship with have rejected him flatly and haven't bothered to allow him to show the soft side. Perhaps there was one girl, Penelope, who had seen this side. She ended up sleeping with his best friend, Mark, and crushing his heart. There is a woman out there that will perhaps see him the way he is meant to be seen, but right now, Andrew guards his heart well.
--- JUDGEMENTAL Because of his upbringing, Andrew has a certain view about how the people of the world should act. If a girl is fatter then the ideal woman, Andrew will shun her. If a man looks too...feminine, he will make sure that he will not publicly be spotter with this male. People judge people with whom they hang out with, and Andrew is smart enough to be around the people that can help him later in life, or are looked upon in society well.
This, of course, allows people to have a negative view on him. Many people don't like how he barely gets to get to know people before passing judgment, claiming that it is not moral. Andrew has never cared what other people think of him, unless they happen to be a pretty girl, and doesn't see that changing any time soon. His father had always taught him to be seen with the best people, whenever possible, and anyone less then Andrew in his mind is just pointless to be around. If your not rich or smart or beautiful, then your not worthy to be around Andrew. His judgment not only affects the way his family looks at you, but quiet possibly how many important people look upon you. Yes, he will blackmail people.
--- SMARTPeople don't think that Andrew is smart, but he is smart. To most people, you can't be hot and smart, so when Andrew surprises someone with his amazing knowledge, they look at him like he is insane. He is as smart as he is purely because Andrew knew from a young age that book smart would get you farther then street smart. Yes, Andrew is street smart, but most of the time, he is a thinker. People ask him if he didn't want to become an actor, what would he become and his answer is always a writer; he would love to be able to spread his knowledge to others.
A problem with his knowledge, though, is that people often accuse him of bragging. Yes, he can tell you in detail how Shakespeare was a hypocrite, whether you want to hear it or not, and will not stop sharing his views. Andrew feels as though whatever he thinks is the most important thing in the world and that everyone should believe in what he believes in. If not, your not smart enough. If you like his thoughts, then your one of the smartest people he has ever met.

On June twenty-seventh, Paige and Nathanial Gracey added the newest member of their family; Andrew Michael Gracey. He would be their only child, and the pride and joy of his mother. Nathanial had never been one good with children, but even Andrew remembers a time where is father hugged his son and played catch in the backyard. Those memories are not as clear as some, like his mother's funeral and he asking why was his mother in a box and his father slapping his only son once across the face. Andrew didn't know the concept of death, but it was that day that he knew never to mention Paige around his father again. It would be years before Andrew knew the reason why his father had slapped him; it was not because of ignorance, it was because his father felt as though he was dying of a broken heart and that once his wife left, the weight of the world would be placed on his shoulders.
Some of the memories that Andrew could recall would be when he would act with his mother. Paige Gracey was a TV actress on a popular British drama, and Paige had wanted her son to follow in her footsteps. Even on the streets of London today, Andrew was often recognized because of their similar features. He had her angular face, her nose, her mouth. But people always said how his eyes were his father, and he knew this. Every day he was reminded of his looks; from the looks his father gave him sometimes (mixed with sadness and anger) and the way his agent looked at him (hope), he knew he would follow behind his mother. Once Paige died of breast cancer, even at the simple age of eight, Andrew knew that he wanted to do what his mother used to do. In fact, it became his sole goal in life.
Nathanial didn't care what his son did; the father would hire nannies and buy whatever Andrew needed, not caring what it costed. This was why they never had the proper son and father relationship that was often secretly craved by the two. Andrew's favorite nanny, Jennifer, brought the brunette to all the auditions that were needed and soon, Andrew began making a name for himself on the British stage. When he turned fifteen, and lost his virginity to an older cast mate, he learned that acting made women chase him. So he used his small fame for the women he wanted. When he was seventeen, he fell in love with a beautiful woman named Penelope. The two brunettes dated for six months, the longest relationship ever for him, before Penny slept with Mark, Andrew's best friend. A friendship and relationship were ruined when he found out, and he vowed to protect his heart well.
When he was eighteen and a senior in high school, Nathanial told his son that he was getting married and would have two sisters. Andrew, not even aware that his father was dating, couldn't believe it. There were siblings in his family now, something he had wanted for so long. Of course, this came with a downside. The mother, Clarissa, was a real mother. Her two daughters, one seventeen another sixteen, were nice enough. But now Andrew had to report to someone, and that bothered him. Never before had he had to do that, and now his life was turning upside down. He often yelled at Clarissa in the first month, and the stepmother was patient, and eventually they bonded. He won't admit it, but he loves Clarissa and his two sisters. When he was accepted into Emerson, he was thrilled. Now he could start his own journey. Or so he thought before his sisters followed in his footsteps, not that he minded. He is a junior, his sisters a sophomore and freshman, and while Andrew pretends he detests them, the family knows that Andrew loves his finally complete family. Even he and his father have a better relationship. But still, he is compared to his lovely mother who would be so proud of what her son has become, a mother that knows that her son is doing the best he could possibly do.
Why Emerson?
Coming from London, Andrew wants to be able to experience the world. The world is a place that so many don't have the chance to explore, that he wanted to be able to see things that some people could only dream to be. Another part of him wanted to be able to escape the fame that his mother created, even though he was proud of her. He wants to be able to prove to his father that he can be whatever he wants to be, and doesn't need a whole lot of help along the way. Andrew has grown up, and while his father his secretly proud of his son, Andrew continues to push himself in order to make his father proud. And getting into Emerson, a hard school to get into, made his father even admit that his son was everything he had hoped to be.
It would be lying if he said it didn’t hurt. Andrew didn’t know if she noticed his head leaning in for a kiss, hoping to have their lips collide, or if she simply rejected him. Devyn hadn’t said anything about what had happened, so he assumed that she just didn’t noticed. And if she had noticed and hadn’t said anything, he still would have pretended. The butterflies in his stomach were swelling up, taking over him, and this had never happened to Andrew before. People had talked about falling in love and being ignorant, Andrew ignored them and pretended that what they said were lies. Obviously, by the way he looked and acted around Devyn, love existed. And it was hard for Andrew to believe that he could even learn how to love. Never before had he experienced love the way he felt right now; his father had never loved him, had never talked to him about love, and those small conversations that Andrew remember before his mother died, well, they weren’t about love. He thought the only thing he could love would be soccer, but obviously he was just lying to himself. But he was getting carried away; love was far off, all Andrew knew was that he felt something for Devyn and was going to do something about it unless she told him she didn’t like him like that. If she did, he’d be promptly leaving the house, embarrassed and rejected.
Obviously, he made Devyn feel uncomfortable, which made him feel uncomfortable. He had called her beautiful, and she looked awkward. What did this mean? Did this mean he didn’t like her? What the hell? So many confusing thoughts started to run through his mind, everything was getting confusing. He wanted everything to go perfectly, but obviously she was uncomfortable. Of course, Andrew couldn’t take what he said back; and probably wouldn’t want to, but she was just so…beautiful. There were so many adjectives, good adjectives, that described the girl but he couldn’t share them. In order to share them, they had to be dating or he would have to at least admit that he thought about her all the time. He ran his fingers through his hair and sighed. God, this was so confusing. Nothing ever had this much attention on his thoughts; when it came to girls, Andrew just did what all the guys did; flirted, did the hair flip and pretended to be so smart, but that didn’t work in this situation. Devyn knew everything about him and knew when he was being a jerk or just joking around. The only thing that Devyn didn’t know about him was when he was romantic, and if he had anything to do with it, he would tell her. No, he would show her just how amazing he was and how amazing they could be. He nodded slowly. ”Me too,” he said, quietly, looking at his dinner. He had eaten most of it.
He shook his head, to her food comment, barely paying attention. Normally, he always paid attention, but it was hard today. He couldn’t focus at all. It was hard just to make sentences right now, let alone pay attention to what the girl was saying. ”They were delicious” he said, his voice distant. He wasn’t acting like his normal flawless self, and he knew that she knew he was nervous. He didn’t think she knew why, but she knew. It wasn’t that hard to notice. Andrew was never noticed, but obviously there was a first for everything, and this was a first. He heard her comment and laughed along with her, vowing to pay more attention. He probably seemed like a imbecile right now. ”Most likely, everyone laughs at those word” Andrew said with a smile before giving a small chuckle. The air suddenly got tense in his area. Girlfriend. A simply slip of the word from Deyn’s vocabulary, but it was more to Andrew. He wanted her to be his girlfriend. ”I would always make time for you. Your one of the most important person in my life right now. And there is no girlfriend, let alone a lot of girl friends.” he said, not being able to meet her beautiful brown eyes.
Devyn was the smartest girl he had ever met, whether that’s because most of the junior’s he knew were jocks and jocks weren’t smart, or it was the truth. Andrew would pay Devyn money for her tutoring, like he paid his last tutor, but he knew she wouldn’t accept the money. She would just be happy to tutor him for free. Of course, he was sure that she would choose someone else over him if another boy needed help in school. He assumed that he wasn’t all that important in her life. They were just friends, whether he wanted to be more or not. Obviously, he hoped for more, but right now he highly doubted that. If some guy asked Deyn out, he was sure that he would be the scary brother, the one threatening the boy that if he broke the brunette’s heart, he’d kill the jerk. ”Well, my grades in calculus would prove otherwise” he joked, but knew it was serious. Calculus would be the only reason that he perhaps wouldn’t pass junior year ”I hope I’m good enough for a scholarship for college, though. I just want to prove to my father that I am good at something, that I can be great” he shrugged, not really wanting to get all emotional right now. That was for another day, another week, and another month perhaps. A small chuckle escaped her lips, glad he was able to make her smile and excited about something so simple. ”I’d do anything for you. We could go to the field tomorrow after school if you’d like” he said with a shrug, hoping for a yes. He had soccer practice for most of next week, but the rest of this week was free.
Their hands met on her cheek, and Andrew knew that they both felt the spark between the two. It was so strong, so obvious, that he started to lean his head towards her. Slowly, but surely. She mumbled something that sounded like a thank you, but he just nodded. This could be his only chance to do everything he had wanted to do within the last week. These feelings weren’t going away any time soon that much Andrew knew. They were perfect for each other, and everyone often knew that. His friends from the soccer team, that were so dense, sometimes asked if the two were together yet. Normally, he would deny that he had feelings for her, but he had to face the music; he liked her a lot. Before his face could even make it half way, Devyn placed his hand onto the table and walked into the kitchen and Andrew sat there, defeated. What had he done wrong? Sighing, he piled all the plates and such in his hands and brought them to the kitchen before placing them on the counter. He took a deep breath…and then faced her, lost in her brown eyes. That was when he did it, he finally grew a pair of balls and did something. He kissed her. Andrew had leaned to her so fast that he knew she didn’t even know what was coming, and their lips met. It was everything he had hoped it would be, and more.
