--- DESTRUCTIVE
this girl has no inhibitions, nothing holding her back and nothing holding her down. she see's what she is doing as a way to improve her art, but her destructive nature - pushing herself mentally and physically as far as she can be stretched is resulting in only more destructive and unhealthy behavior. it began after her father allowed her to be emancipated and never really stopped after that. one would think she would grow tired of being the way she is but she isn't ready to stop and no one really is in the way of making her stop. she knows her father wouldn't condone her flagrant disregard for her own well being and thus causes her to do even more self harm. she's a bit of a mess.
--- HARDWORKING
while she isn't exactly the plan for the future type, aurelia really struggles and strives for the best work she could possibly produce. when not completely and totally out of it on whatever drug she decides to use and even when she is totally out of it, she continues to think of ways to better her work. she carries sketch pads and art utensils to produce the work when it actually comes to mind. she is dedicated to her art - something that her father loved to see her do and would still want to see her do. while she majors in the medium of canvas, she is also incredibly interested in music, photography and cooking all of which she actively pursues.
--- CONTRADICTION
as much as most do not like to admit it, aurelia knows she is a raging mess of contradictions that often confuse people to no end. as much as people dislike it, aurelia is incredibly straight forward - of course she is the first to acknowledge when it is her opinion, but she isn't afraid to give it. she is outspoken but very choice with her words and often explains things either with a sense of extreme vagueness or blunt straight-forwardness that makes it hard to want her to open her mouth. she is happy and the next she is sad or angry or excited. but she is not disillusioned to the fact that her general acceptance of her contradictions could be a result of her upbringing, verbal abuse and possibly inherited bi-polar disorder.
--- RUNAWAY
while she isn't technically a runaway, she is running away from everything she ever knew. after her emancipation it was running away from her mother and in turn running away from her father. after leaving her entire family behind, she had to run away from the broken heart she left in boulder when she left her father. she also had to run away from her friend who were while supporting her drug and alcohol binges were also pressuring her to stay in boulder, a nice enough town for people who had no big plans. she ran away from everything and everyone, which only resulted in more alcohol consumption and more drug use which then in turn lead to more and more alcohol consumption and more and more drug use. her running away is like a never ending cycle.
--- POLITICAL
she is involved in a lot of politics. she has loved politics since she was a kid, her parents even encouraged it. among other things, she participated in the 350 march in Philadelphia, joined hundreds of pot smokers in the cannabis March earlier that year, and also joined protesters who stood at the steps of city hall demanding gay rights. Of course, her leanings a bit liberal, she considered herself very much so in the middle. she was no one or the other because on every issue her opinion crossed party lines. while she hasn't focused much of politics lately, eventually she wants her art to make important political statements like goya, manet, turner, and many other artists with different technique, use of color, brush stroke and political opinion.
--- OPENMINDED
she is incredibly open minded about people, places, trying new things, opinions...anything and everything. while she might not outwardly seem friendly or outwardly seem interested, aurelia is definitely thinking about the idea being plausible or the place as being beautiful. it makes her somewhat of an optimist but this side of her is only really visible when she is high as a kite or drunk, and unfortunately that is when not many people are paying attention. she loves contemplating the universe, counter-culture ideas and thinking out of the box. it's part of her artist nature.
LIKES: drugs. music. bicycling. hiking. nature. piercings. south street. color. expression but also strict stoicism. museums. bonfires. excitement. sex. beat poets. musical theater. coca-cola out of the bottle. tattoos. gardening. the history channel. cats. blowing bubbles. magic realism. banging on pots and pans. timothy leary. peeling bananas. letter writing. antiques. urban legends. vagueness. organized chaos. monsters inside of us. vonnegut. water. smoothies. lighting candles to save electricity. romanticism. taking the fire alarm off the ceiling so you can smoke some dank nuggets. stephen hawkings the known universe. crazy decor.

She was born into this world Aurelia Nova True, a beautiful blond little girl, to an adoring young couple. Her childhood was similar to that of any child, except for the fact that her parents were both raised by hippies and in turn had similar ideas. They raised her promoting tolerance, acceptance and diversity. she was the type of girl whose parents bought her the dolls of different ethnicity instead of a while doll. she also grew up in a very eco friendly home where they grew their own plants and cooked often. now, one would think that it seems as though they were a happy family.
But around the time that Aurelia turned seven, things started to go downhill. Her mother's behavior grew erratic. When they had previously spent hours together, they now spent single minutes. Her mother grew more and more snide in her remarks; constantly putting Aurelia down by criticizing her art, her looks, her happiness, anything. Despite Aurelia's earnest attempted, her father would not leave her mother. He said that he loved her and he couldn't leave her, especially when she needed him. She was crazy. He did however, do everything possible to make Aurelia's life more comfortable.
They grew incredibly close, best friends even. But, by the time Aurelia was fifteen it became apparent that things just weren't working out. Forced, by her mother, to see a psychiatrist she told the the psychiatrist about her mother's verbal abuse and in order to save Aurelia's mental stability the psychiatrist notified child services. While her mother was deemed ill-fit as a parent and with her father preoccupied taking care of her mother, the result: Aurelia being deemed legally emancipated, and given a grant by the government because of the circumstances, she was able to support herself - pay rent, groceries and such other necessities. Finding an apartment in walking distance of her home, she lived comfortably, but rarely saw her father. in fact, she was bitter about his want to take care of her abusive mother instead of her, an understandable anger at an unfair abandonment.
Spending less and less time with her father, her friends were surprised that stuff she wouldn't previously had done she was now participating in. Weed, alcohol, acid, shrooms...she was a new person; a party animal. As she tried more things, she grew more comfortable with trying different and new things, the more she grew comfortable being on her own. She stopped talking to her mom and dad completely, still bitter about their abandonment and her mothers abuse.
Her friends provided for her. But they didn't really think of it as negative. Once they had all graduated, she would work during the day to make money and party during the night, only getting a few hours of sleep in between. She was an absolute mess. After a year of this, she realized that she needed to get away. She applied to Emerson on a whim. Despite the slight dip in her 4.0 high school GPA her senior year, her impressive portfolio and large amount of extracurriculars which she completed before her spiral downward, she gained acceptance.
Hitchhiking from Boulder to Philadelphia, she met some amazing people and some amazingly creepy people as well. Upon arriving, she met up with a friend on hers who had graduated the year before she had and was attending Drexel. Allowing her to stay in the apartment for the few months before Emerson's fall semester began, Aurelia helped pay for utilities and groceries with the money she had earned the previous year and was earning with a job at Dunkin Donuts and Chili's she had began working since getting to Philly.
Once the semester started though her friend was glad to see her leave. Aurelia used drugs, drank incessantly and brought people home with her. It drove her roommates crazy. Moving into the dorms provided by Emerson, she was quick to be kicked out for drug use, alcohol possession and other small charges. Of course, student services provided a real estate agent which found her a decently nice apartment filled with college students her age, many of which attended Emerson.
Why Emerson?
Why? Emerson is one the best art schools in the country. Aurelia is incredibly interested in better her art. Also, Emerson happens to be located on the east coast far away from any bit of her past. she loves the idea of adventure and in order to get to philly she hitchhiked which added to the allure and adventure - why not is the better question.
Emerson is also located in the historically rich college town of Philadelphia. Aurelia wanted an art school which provided access to internships, the best teachers, resources and drugs that money and talent can offer. She was endowed money to pay for school from her father - instructed by his Will and as a result was able to pay tuition. It was an opportunity of a lifetime.
We're headed north, I see the cliff, we're getting close
LOOK OUT BABY, SO DON'T SAY THAT YOU JUST WANNA RUN AWAY[/CENTER]
SHE SIGHED A BREATH OF RELIEF AS SHE BROUGHT THE CIGARETTE TO HER LIPS TO LIGHT IT WITH HER BRIGHT ORANGE LIGHTER. SHE HADN'T HAD A CIGARETTE ALL DAY AND SHE FUCKING NEEDED ONE. BETWEEN CLASSES AND WORK, SHE WORKED WITH ASSHOLES ALL DAY AND SOME DAYS WERE, WELL, THEY WERE BETTER THAN OTHERS. AS SHE TOOK A DRAG OF HER CIGARETTE SHE WONDERED HOW SHE HAD GOTTEN TRAPPED IN THE MONOTONY THAT WAS EVERYDAY EXISTENCE. SHE ALWAYS TOLD HERSELF THAT SHE WOULD NEVER BE CAUGHT WORKING A NINE TO FIVE, SHE'D NEVER BE CAUGHT DEAD WEARING A PANTS SUIT AND THAT SHE WOULD NEVER GO HOME TO AN EMPTY APARTMENT. OF COURSE, TWO OUT OF THE THREE THINGS SHE HAD ALREADY BROKEN HER WORD ON. SHE WORE A STUPID GRAY PANTSUIT WHICH COST A FORTUNE TO AN ART SHOW AND SHE WAS BASICALLY WORKING A NINE TO FIVE BETWEEN SCHOOL AND WORK, FUCK, IF SHE WAS GOING TO GO HOME TO AN EMPTY APARTMENT SHE WOULD SHOOT HERSELF. BUT SHE KNEW THAT THOR, HER BIG BLACK CAT WOULD BE WAITING FOR HER - WANTING HER TO FEED AND PET AND LOVE HIM. HE WAS HER SAVIOR AT THAT VERY MOMENT.
PULLING THE HOOD OF HER LEATHER JACKED AROUND HER HEAD, HER FINGERS BRUSHING HER CHEEKS SHE TOOK A FINAL DRAG OFF THE CIGARETTE AND THREW IT TO THE GROUND, STAMPING IT OUT BEFORE SHE BEGAN WALKING. THE CROWDS WEREN'T DWINDLING DOWN YET. SHOPPERS WERE STILL CARRYING BAGS UPON BAGS OF USELESS SHIT, THE HOMELESS MAN WAS SITTING SITTING ON THE GROUND IN HIS RAGS BEGGING FOR MONEY, AND THE MEN AND WOMEN OF THE WORKPLACE WERE QUICKLY MOVING WITHOUT WATCHING WHERE THEY WERE GOING TALKING AWAY ON A BLACKBERRY OR A IPHONE OR WHATEVER WAS MOST CONVENIENT. SLIPPING DOWN ONE OF THE SMALLER STREETS TO AVOID THE CROWD, SHE WALKED PAST THE FRANKLIN FOUNTAIN TO A HOOKAH BAR DOWN THE STREET WHERE SHE COULD ORDER SOME FOOD AND SMOKE A HOOKAH.
BUT BEFORE SHE COULD EVEN MAKE IT THERE, HER FEET FUMBLED ON THE UNEVEN COBBLESTONE AND LOSING HER BALANCE SHE FELL FORWARD, HOWEVER NOT BEFORE FLAILING TO GRAB HOLD OF ANYTHING THAT COULD KEEP HER BALANCE RESULTING IN HER PULLING SOMEONE DOWN WITH HER, HER HAND LETTING GO AS SOON AS HER OTHER HAND FLEW OUT TO CATCH HERSELF, GETTING SCRAPED UP IN THE PROCESS.
"FUCK!" SHE MUMBLED, LOOKING UP TO CATCH SIGHT OF WHOEVER SHE HAD JUST TAKEN DOWN.
