"This is absolutely ridiculous," Corbin couldn't believe that this was now the sixth time he'd lost to Sam. Video games weren't supposed to be this hard and more often than not he found himself the one with the upper hand. "How on Earth do you always win?" Exasperated, but not so much that he wanted to quit playing, he laid the controller on his leg long enough to wipe sweat from his hand. He was bound and determined to beat Sam regardless of how many times they had to play before it was done. "Alright, alright, Luigi lost. Enough rubbing it in my face. Let's go again."

Yeah, Sam was kind of awesome at video games. He supposed it really came part and parcel with the whole 'condition' deal - he could work things out very quickly and as long as there was some sort of logic involved, master it even faster. So far he'd beat Corbin six out of six times, and he didn't feel like he was going to lose his streak any time soon. There was this slow sort of smile on Sam's face as he picked up his controller, ready to go again. When Corbin spoke, however, he looked over to the other and just sort of blinked. "Sorry. I didn't mean to rub it...in your face." Sam never really understood it when people spoke metophorically. "You want me to let you win?" Well, that was being generous, right? His therapist said social graces were something he needed to work on.

"No, Sam, I don't mean really rub it in my face. Just teasing man, and hell no! Don't let me win. That is completely against the point. I want to prove that my skills are superior to yours, I'm just... warming up." Okay, so maybe Sam was going to beat him again and again but at least it was fun. It was just about when Corbin was ready to tell Sam to start it over that he heard a cutesy voice ring through the place. Oddly familiar, he didn't put his finger on it until she walked in the room. "No way," he pointed between the two of them. "This is your sister?" Well, that was awkward. Beyond awkward, really. But hey, Sam was his friend. Ruby played no part in this. "I see no resemblance."

"Yeah, everyone used to say I was prettier." Sam wasn't being funny or cute, it was the honest truth. He was a very pretty baby and people often thought his pictures were pictures of Ruby. Of course it wasn't the fact now, but nevertheless, it was something to add to the conversation. "Hey Rubes, you wanna play Mario Kart? Corbin brought over more controllers. You can race as Peach. Maybe then he might actually have a chance at beating someone. You know, cause you're not really great at it and neither is he." Brutal honesty. It could be hurtful at times, but Ruby was used to it, and it was the reason Sam didn't really have too many friends.

"I still see it, man. You're definitely the gorgeous one." Corbin grinned, just playing along. He liked Sam, he was a cool guy. He said what was on his mind and was a bit awkward but wasn't everyone sometimes? Besides, having someone to nerd out with on occasion was totally worth it. "It's cool, I ate at work." Corbin's shifts at Mad Greeks were often after class or short and took place during the hours he didn't have class or on the weekends. The owner was happy to work with him on the schedule, as Corbin was a stand up guy and worked as hard as he could when he was on the clock. He was only doing it so he could have extra cash to send his little sister presents every now and again. "Come on, Ruby. We can tag team him and run him off the track."

"Oh, dude, you totally could've had some of mine." There it was, the phrase that had to tell Ruby that Sam liked Corbin. Sam kind of had a complex as far as sharing his favourite things was concerned. Nobody had ever been offered so much as a bit of his Chicken and Cashews that wasn't an immediate family member. "Thanks Rubes. I'll eat in a sec. But, no, you guys won't be able to beat me. I think my confidence is made of 99% truth because you both suck equally." Sam knew Ruby knew Corbin, they talked about everything, but his condition didn't really allow him to understand that it might be awkward for them. They were just having fun, playing a video game. What was wrong with that?

Well. Now. That was... different. Sam was willing to share his chicken? That was really saying something. Biting her lip, the blond let out a small sigh. "It's fine, there would have been enough.." She frowned, a little defeated. She couldn't let him starve if Sammy actually liked him. Blah. She couldn't help but laugh at her brother's next comment. "Wow, you must really be bad Corbin if he's comparing you to me." She didn't mind being told she was crap, but she was hoping Corbin did. "Alright, we'll play but lets eat first I'm starved. Corbin wants to help in the kitchen, don't you?" Plucking up his hand, she tugged the mo-hawked guy up, so he had no choice but to follow. Speaking in low, cold words as she went about getting dinner ready. "Sam doesn't share his chicken so he must really like you. You hurt him and so help me god. Sammy?" she raised her voice, calling. "You want a soda?"

"No Corbin doesn't," he complained as Ruby forced him to follow along behind her. "Bro, your sister is kidnapping me, this is highly unfair. Keep it paused." While he was here to hang out with Sam, he found that he would have to deal with Ruby to get to do so. What was her problem? Especially the harsh words she said to him after pulling him aside. "Why do you treat your brother like an infant? And what reason in the world would I have to hurt him? He's a friend. A friend who I have rudely left alone. Can I go back now?"

Keep it paused? Damn. Sam totally could've raced a good few times and beat Corbin just that little bit harder while he was gone. But he wasn't going to, that was cheating and Corbin wanted him to wait until he came back. Sam set the controllers out on the coffee table, lined them up perfectly and stood to go into the kitchen with the other two. It was a good thing he hadn't heard Ruby. He grabbed a few plates out and took them into the lounge, he then proceded to do the same with the food and a few cans of soda before settling back against the couch again. Obviously they had something to talk about - something Sam didn't really care to know. It wasn't any of his business. "Seriously, guys. It's time for Mario Kart and chinese, not whatever it is you're doing in there."

"Maybe if you treated him like he was normal he would feel normal," Corbin retorted and left it at that. He saw nothing wrong with Sam, and why Ruby thought that hanging out with Sam meant that he was some how sympathetic he was unsure. There was nothing wrong with Sam. Yes, he had a condition, Corbin knew that. He wasn't stupid. But it only made him awkward and different to other, something Corbin didn't care about at all. He was friends with Sam because he liked Sam, and he didn't have to get along with Ruby in order to be Sam's friend. With that, he followed her back to the lounge and reclaimed his seat. "Sam, I nearly forgot, that interview I told you about -- my boss said come in whenever you have the free time. He's not too stressed on it being formal."

Sam was well aware of how strange he happened to be as far as socialising with other people went, but it honestly didn't upset him too much - Ruby seemed to be more hurt by what was said than he was himself. Samson was incredibly smart and he took that as a gift he was blessed with - good always cam along with bad and he couldn;t well expect to be perfect, could he? Nonetheless, he was oblivious as to what Corbin and Ruby were talking about. "Thanks heaps for that, Corbin. I might duck in tomorrow." He replied, picking up one of the Wii remotes. "So, Rubes. You want Peach or what?"
